This is my short resume, a few paragraphs about more than 20 years working experience:

I am forty three years old, but I feel as if I was 20, is that normal?

I am crazy about technology, mainly computer science, but there are many other topics that interest me very much (I can be hooked at Discovery Channel very easily)

I am a Principal Technologist and SQL Server product consultant at QA plc., United Kingdom. My main role involves IT training, course development, and internal mentoring. I love training, and really believe in learning, and knowledge transfer, as a self-rewarding living experience. As a .NET Technical Lead, I have to care about this exciting new platform, and help other instructors to get up to speed on this new technology.

I could say that my main strengths are SQL Server and Visual Basic, but if I had to defined myself in a few words, I would say "I am a problem solver", and the harder the problem, the better.

I write for SQL Server Magazine (www.sqlmag.com), and I am starting to write for other technical magazines about SQL Server and Visual Basic.

I speak at different Microsoft-related conferences: TechEd Europe, PASS, VBUG, VBITS, DevWeek, MCTCon, SQL Server Magazine Live, VB Connections, SQLLive, and e-Gallaecia.

Last year I published the book "Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Programming by Example" with Carlos Eduardo Rojas (another fellow SQL Server MVP), and we have excellent feedback about it. I'm writing a new book on VB.NET and SQL Server.

Microsoft just published one of my white papers, the .NET Operations Guide, and the .NET Deployment Guide will be published soon.

I am a Civil and Hydrologic Engineer with almost 20 years experience in software development and design, in many cases applied to engineering environments.

I hold seven Microsoft Professional Certifications, including MCSE+Internet, MCSD, MCDBA, and MCT, and I have been awarded with the MVP (Most Valuable Professional) status on SQL Server for years 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. I am also a voting member and volunteer of PASS, the Professional Association for SQL Server, where I am member of several Technical Advisory Councils.

My professional experience covers six years (1981-1987) as a lecturer in the Valencia's Polytechnic University (Spain, www.upv.es), where I was lecturing on Surveying, Photogrammetry, and Technical Drawing  at the Civil Engineering School and the Agricultural Engineering School. During those years I had to develop, use, and teach applied numerical methods and programming languages to solve engineering problems.

I built my own software company in Spain, TOU S.A., focused on Desktop Publishing and graphical tools for the professional market, being technical director in that company for four years (1987-1991). During those years, I worked very closely with Atari Spain (Ordenadores Atari S.A.) to promote the professional market in Spain (mainly DTP solutions based on the Atari ST and TT lines), and I worked with them for a short period as Software Manager.

Before joining QA (Nov 1998), I spent eight years (1991-1998) as an international consultant for a prestigious Spanish engineering firm (www.inypsa.es), living in different countries (Indonesia, Morocco, Bolivia), designing, developing, and implementing information systems for projects financed by the World Bank, the European Union, and the European Investment Bank.
